Quick Blog Update + Small Giveaway (?)

Ramadan Mubarak! I know I'm a little late to this, but I hope you have a wonderful month ahead of you with all your prayers granted and all your sins forgiven. I hope this month removes your hardships and replaces everything with ease.

I normally don't have a lot of content to crank out during Ramadan since I have school and studies which tend to exhaust me while fasting. I think this year will be different because we've shifted houses and I now live in a basement house which is great because it could be searing outside but it's not horrible inside, in fact, it's great. Heat has a tendency to make me feel very exhausted and irritable, so having a cool underground home sounds like heaven.

Either way, I have to celebrate something with you guys! Not too long ago, I reached 50 followers on my blog via Google Friend Connect and I've been leaping in joy ever since (although somewhat shamed as well, since a lot of my content seems to be pretty watery and yuck. I'm sorry I'm a terrible blogger...), so I figured I had to do something for the amazing folk who follow my blog and read the terrible stuff I write (again, I'm sorry).

Presenting Kanra's very first "Everyone Wins!" Giveaway:

1. You must be following me on GFC or Bloglovin'.
2. You must have commented on my blog at least three times
3. Follow me on twitterinstagram and pinterest.
4. You should be a blogger!
5. Sign up to the newsletter at the bottom of the post (optional, but appreciated)

If you do all of these things, you are automatically a winner. And you get to pick one of three prizes:

1. An image edit of your choice. You can send in a photograph and your favorite lyric/quote for me to illustrate for you. Additionally, you could send just a lyric/quote and let me choose the photograph. Examples: i, ii, iii, iv.

2. An aesthetic edit of your choice. Whether it's a fandom or something you really love, I can build an aesthetic edit for you and will send you three files: the unedited version, the edited version and the Instagram version. Here are some examples:

Medicine Aesthetic:
Medicine Aesthetic

Ocean Shark Aesthetic:
Ocean Aesthetic

3. An aesthetic edit of your blog. Just send over your blog URL and some personal preferences (would you like your own pictures in the edit? do you want quotes as well as images?) and I'll make you something really nice. Example:

The Lunar Descent Blogger Aesthetic:
The Lunar Descent Aesthetic: Instagram version

I would email these files to you and if you want, I could feature it on my blog along with a short description of your blog, a few posts of yours that I liked and a quick social media shout out!

So if you're a winner and you like the idea of any of these, comment below! I will email you for further details once I'm done verifying. Please note that these will take a little time. I intend to post these prizes on a weekly basis of no more than three winners per post (and that's IF you are okay with me posting on my blog).

Have a nice day!

5 YouTube Channels Every Med Student Should Know About

YouTube is possibly the greatest and most accessible place to learn. Yes, there are websites out there like coursera that have courses and certificates for you to get, but if you don't have the time for getting a complete qualification or if you're doing it for fun or if it's for supplementing your tuition, then YouTube is perfect. It breaks down a lot of difficult concepts and makes them easy and if you can't figure something out, try a video made by someone else!

I used YouTube a LOT during my first two years of medicine. Near the time of exams, I would close my books, take out my notes and start watching a video on Youtube. It helped me go over concepts quickly and piece them together into a cohesive, coherent form. Of course, it took me a while to discover these channels and so I thought it would be super helpful if I linked them all up for you!

Workflow Timer: The 25/5 Pomodoro Technique

On my never-ending quest to find an app as useful and cool as Timeful, I have come across an interesting app with an interesting concept. It's not the greatest app around to be honest, but I suppose it merits it's own post.

Disclaimer: This app is not very interesting, I would 10/10 NOT recommend, do not install it, it's a waste of time and space, everything is locked and I don't feel even mildly interested enough to consider buying the app. Still here to read? Let's get started.

Is Medicine Really For Me? My First Cadaver: Season 2

I've been subscribed to Med School Tutors for a while now. Although I don't read each and every blog post, I do find interesting things popping up in my email every now and then; and that's exactly what has prompted this post.

I don't really listen to podcasts. In fact, I had deleted the Apple Podcast app as soon as I could. I only tried to use it to listen to "Welcome to Nightvale" or whatever that's called but somehow never got around to listening to it actually...,but when Med School Tutors announced about their podcast, My First Cadaver, having a season 2 being released, I was super curious. I had to know what it was about and what kind of things would be discussed. I promptly re-installed the Podcast app and eagerly waited for Season 2, Episode 1 to download.

A Talk On Titans: The Shingeki no Kyojin Review Nobody Asked For

Have I screamed about how much I love Attack on Titan on this blog yet? I have? Oh well. Time to write a civilized blog post on Attack on Titan and why it's my favorite currently ongoing series! If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend that you go watch it when you're done reading this post. As of right now, the second season has been released so it won't be too hard to catch up.

Get ready for rambling and all the reasons why you should watch Attack on Titan!

My Adsense Fiasco: Why I'm not going to use Google Adsense to Monetize my Blog

Clearly, I will not be able to monetize my blog through Adsense, considering they straight up rejected me and I can't seem to figure out what the problem is exactly.... The more I researched over (what little, dejected research I did), the more I realized it was probably best if I didn't jump in to waters too shallow for my taste.

You interested? Well then. Let's get started.

13 Reasons Why: This May Be Uncomfortable

It's been trending everywhere- my twitter feed is filled with discussions about it, several bloggers have made posts about it- you can say that it's taken the online world by storm. It's not surprising if you think about it. 13 Reasons Why covers a lot of uncomfortable things all in one series, so of course it would rub a lot of people the wrong way. It's been a week or two since I've finished watching it and I think I can finally write about it on my blog now too.

“Hey, it’s Hannah, Hannah Baker, don’t adjust your, whatever device you’re hearing this on. It’s me, live and in stereo. No return engagements, no encore and this time absolutely no requests. Get a snack. Settle in. Because I’m about to tell you the story of my life, more specifically, why my life ended.”
