The Dummy's Guide to SEO: Get the Basics

Everyone's always talking about SEO when it comes to blogging and I've always been curious about what exactly SEO is. So of course, I decided to do a little research on it and share with you what I learned about SEO.

Be prepared for the detailed guide for blogger dummies like me. Additional warning; please read the entire post till the very end before actually implementing anything that I share. Thank you!

How To Celebrate a Mid-Degree Crisis

especially if it's a bunch of people all at the same time.

The more I think about it, the more mid-life it seems to me. You could argue that life is still life when you're in your 50s (you know, the ages when you start meddling into your kids' lives and try maneuvering them into getting married and stuff, but essentially, that's you playing with someone else's life, not your own). So if you cut down the time line for life into "the part of your life where you are in charge of making your own decision", then 21 sounds like a good age for a mid-I-currently-run-slash-ruin-my-own-life crisis.

Only this time, everyone was celebrating. Context: We are 2.5 years into our 5 year degree of medicine and surgery. Just saying it in my head, typing it on my laptop makes this phrase feel so heavy. Two and a half years of medicine and surgery, completed. Anyway, my class decided to celebrate the occasion by taking group pictures of the class throughout the week, have a formal dinner party and a class trip to somewhere fun.

Guess who's not excited.

I Know You Don't Like Me: Concealed Thoughts of an Introvert

I've been really tired these days. There's just so much going on that I can't help but feel like drawing away from everyone and everything. Sometimes I lash out with a loud "Leave me alone!" but the only person who I said that to is quite thick headed and didn't really listen to me, choosing to laugh at my outburst instead. Yes, I think that makes me feel tired too, trying to avoid that person as much as I can.

Just because I feel overall awful about everything and myself, I decided to write a poem about it. I feel like it's better to create a piece of writing rather than rant out about things and make it seem like my life is dramatic (it's really not. I'm just very sensitive and tend to overthink situations a lot). Plus on the upside, if anyone comes across my blog, I don't want them to see me write negative things specifically about them. (Yes, you're really annoying by the way, if you're reading this and you know who you are...)

Habitica: Turn Your Life Into An RPG (Review)

FYI, RPG means role playing game. Habitica is a productivity app that focuses on helping you build habits and clear out tasks by turning them into "quests" and granting you "in game" awards so that you are motivated to get things done- just like how you would while playing a video game. Sounds cool? Definitely!

I'm Getting Serious

I covered this a little bit in the previous blog post where I talked about how the past three weeks (not counting this week) have been pretty tough in terms of how much energy I had. I had been pretty demotivated in terms of studying and would spend my tired evenings watching Dexter. Now that my new module has started, however, I've been kicking myself back into gear when it comes to studying. And to be very honest? A lot of it could be attributed to this video:

Disclaimer: the video has great content but the sound effects are really loud and very annoying....

The Autopsy Adventure

So what am I up to in med school? I just gave an exam on Friday (it was kinda 'meh') for the module we just finished called Medico-Legal Autopsy. It only lasted three weeks, but as you may have noticed, I haven't exactly been posting fresh content- most of the posts from these past 3 weeks have been reviews or old posts that I cleaned up and posted.

The reason for this is that even though MLA sounds really easy (it's just forensics. No pathology, no pharmacology, nothing), but it was still really exhausting because we went on autopsy visits every other day.

Showtime's DEXTER

So I may have binge-watched another show/season. Yes, I seriously binged this one. The last show I watched (Code Black), was near impossible to binge because of how emotionally packed it was with it's punches and raw display of trauma and life. Dexter though- Dexter is a drama with an important story line that makes you feel like one episode is not enough.

Dexter Morgan is a Miami-based blood splatter expert who doesn't just solve murders; he commits them too. In fact, he's a serial killer -- but he only murders the guilty, so he feels justified with his lifestyle choices. His policewoman sister and his cop co-workers have no idea Dexter lives a double life; however, adoptive father Harry knows his secret, and does, in fact, help Dexter hone his "skills." It's a unique brand of justice for which charming Dexter feels a psychological hunger.

Roast Yourself

Remember when this was a trend on Youtube? First there used to be Youtubers who wrote diss tracks on other people, until some people decided enough was enough- it was time to roast yourself. Nobody likes talking badly about themselves, but compared to the alternative of having a stranger pick out bad things about you, it seems like a good idea to get the job done yourself first. After all, it's easier to laugh off self criticism than dealing with unsolicited opinions.

So I thought, hey. How about I try roasting myself?
